This class is designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary for a successful home-buying journey. Topics covered will include:

  • Preparing for the Expenses of Homeownership: Learn about the costs involved in buying and maintaining a home, including down payments, mortgages, and ongoing expenses.

As a HUD-approved Housing Counseling agency since 2003, GROWTH provides free housing counseling services for financial literacy, budgeting, understanding credit, homeownership, homebuyer education, and foreclosure prevention. GROWTH has assisted more than 3,000 individuals and currently has two HUD-certified housing counselors on staff, including one bilingual counselor.

We encourage those seeking homebuyer education from GROWTH's multi-county service area, including the Illinois counties of Rock Island, Whiteside, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, and Mercer, to join virtually or in person.
